Kevin Manalo will leave the Philippines to become a scholar in Europe and attain an international masters degree.
The former ABS-CBN reporter announced his decision on Twitter last week.
“2020 wasn’t all that terrible for me! Before I left ABSCBN – my home for 8 years – I received a full scholarship from Erasmus+!” said Manalo.
He shared that he was supposed to leave last September 2020, but the program was delayed because of the pandemic.
“Wish me luck! I‘m gonna miss the Philippines. For now I need to grow away from my comfort zone. I want to be wiser and this is the most wonderful opportunity to do that,” he added.
Despite his journey to another country, Manalo will still find a way to vote in the 2022 national elections.
His regret, however, is not having the opportunity to bid goodbye to his colleagues in ABS-CBN. Manalo was one of the retrenched employees after the Congress denied the franchise renewal of the Kapamilya network.
Ayan na, nagsisimula na naman ako maiyak. I will always consider ABSCBN as my home.
Do you guys know how painful it is to say goodbye from a distance? I haven’t even seen the newsroom, the CA department, Teleradyo, and the halls of the station before I left last year!
