President Rodrigo Duterte shocked the entire nation after it was announced that an ‘absolute pardon’ will be given to US Marine Scott Pemberton, the killer of Pinay transgender Jennifer Laude.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin released the update, which was later on confirmed by presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
Roque, a former lawyer of Laude, said that the President has no obligation to share his reason on why Pemberton was given a pardon.
With the recent move of Duterte, the motion for reconsideration regarding the issue of the release order for Pemberton will have no effect, and the convicted murderer can now be released from his detention at Camp Aguinaldo.
Below are the reactions from media people regarding the pardon of Duterte given to a killer.
