Twitter silenced outgoing US President Donald Trump for spreading misinformation that led to his supporters to rally within the capitol.
The social media platform, as well as Facebook, suspended Trump’s account for 24 hours and also deleted some of his tweets for violating their policies.
This was after Trump posted a video where he lauded all the protestors.
He also claimed that the election was ‘stolen’ to him hours before the US Congress certified the win of US President-elect Joe Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris.
Several Philippine journalists hit Trump for not accepting defeat, Ces Oreña-Drilon thanked Twitter for locking Trump on their platform.
“Thank you Twitter for locking the @realDonaldTrump account. But you should have done it long ago with all the lies he has spewed,” said the ABS-CBN journalist.
