WNBC reporter Katherine Creag passed away Wednesday evening, based on the statement released by her news station.
She was 47.
Katherine comes from Manila, where she is known by her colleagues for her passion when it comes to Pinoy food.
She is survived by her three children and her husband Bill Gafner.
The departure of Creag was unexpected, as she does not have any history of illness and was still working up until Wednesday morning.
Before joining WNBC, she first worked for Fox, where she was instrumental for different awards in Emmys and Murrow.
“For ten years Kat was one of our cornerstones, always willing to help in any situation, whether it was a colleague in need or a shift that needed to be covered. She was thoughtful, funny and relentless. And even on the toughest days she was a bright light, quick with a kind word and a smile,” according to WNBC’s vice president of news Amy Morris.
